MiniTubePlayer 26

Privacy Policy

MiniTubePlayer is designed around local playback and personal playlists, with optional MTP account sync when you choose to sign in.

Effective Date: June 21, 2025 Updated for MTP account sync
Local first Playback, playlists, settings, and local media remain on your device unless you use account sync.
Optional sync Signed-in users can sync playlists and watched-video metadata with the MTP backend.
No video uploads MiniTubePlayer does not upload video files or local media files to the MTP backend.

1. Data Collection

MiniTubePlayer does not require an account for local playback and playlist use. If you choose to create or use an MTP account, the App sends your email and password to the MTP backend for registration/login and stores the returned access token locally.

When a video is played, the App may contact the MTP backend to register the video identifier and app version. If you are signed in, the backend may also store watched-video metadata for your account, such as video id, title, URL, thumbnail URL, playlist name, watch count, duration, and last playback position.

MiniTubePlayer does not upload video files or local media files to the MTP backend.

2. Local Data Storage

The App stores playlists, video links, playback positions, account token, and settings locally on your device. This includes:

  • Custom playlists created by you
  • YouTube video or playlist links
  • Player preferences such as opacity and corner behavior

If you do not sign in or use account sync, your playlists and history remain local except for normal YouTube requests and the video registration request described above.

3. Optional MTP Account Sync

MiniTubePlayer supports optional MTP account sync. When you are signed in, you can fetch remote data, upload local data, and sync saved playlists, watched-video history, watch counts, durations, and last playback positions with the MTP backend.

MTP account sync uses MTP servers operated for this App. The App does not use iCloud or third-party cloud storage for this sync.

You can log out at any time. Logging out removes the local account token from this Mac but does not delete local playlists or history. Deleting the account from the Account screen requests deletion of the remote account and synced account data.

4. Third-Party Content

MiniTubePlayer allows users to view content hosted on YouTube. Please note:

  • The App itself does not host YouTube content.
  • The App may cache playable streams locally when caching is enabled.
  • All content playback is subject to YouTube's terms of service and privacy policies.
  • MiniTubePlayer is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.

5. Security

Local app data is stored on your device, and account sync requests use bearer-token authentication. We recommend that you follow standard macOS security practices, such as enabling disk encryption and keeping your system up to date.

6. Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated to reflect future versions of the App. Any significant changes will be included in an updated version accessible from within the App.
